NALANDA: Culture and Art in Everyday Life
(The Nalanda program schedule
is listed on the events page)
Nalanda Contemplative Arts comprises a number of secular disciplines
and activities that integrate art and culture with everyday life. Each
of these disciplines represents a genuine contemplative path; together
they bring beauty, vividness and wisdom to our lives and culture.
Nalanda Contemplative Arts teaches non-aggressive art grounded in fresh,
unconditioned perception. Although these teachings are inspired from Shambhala
Buddhism and other spiritual traditions, they are not in any way religious
or about adopting a religion or a particular philosophy. They are about
the nature of discovery and play -- the universal nature of the creative
process and communication. Whether you are an artist or not, if you have
an interest in enhancing the creativity of your everyday life you are
encouraged to attend these enriching programs.
The activities of Nalanda may be roughly grouped into four major categories:
the arts, health, education, and business. The Cleveland Shambhala Meditation
Group has sponsored ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), Miksang (contemplative
photography), contemplative theater, mudra space awareness and bird watching
socials. For upcoming events and contact information, please check our
events page.
