Date details +
    Room: Lakewood Center

Have you ever wondered how Buddhism made its way to Tibet? This series of classes in five parts explores the lives of five major founding teachers of Tibetan Buddhism and will focus on their spiritual journeys leading toward becoming fully awake and liberated practitioners. These five teachers are: Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, and Gampopa. Attend this series of classes to find out more about these masters of spiritual accomplishment who embodied the wisdom that has been brought forward to the world over the past thousand years.  The dates of the classes will be: 1/23, 2/20, 3/19, 4/16, and 5/21 and take place from 8:00-8:30 pm after regular open meditation.

    MILAREPA

This class will explore the life of Milarepa, the fourth founding teacher in this series exploring the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu lineage. Milarepa’s story is unique because he endured a tragic youth which brought him face to face with karma, remorse, and renunciation. After this tragic beginning, he makes it his goal to become enlightened, seeking out Marpa as his guru, who puts Milarepa through an intense period of meditation and trials leading to his awakening. Though all of the great gurus in this series faced hardship, when we think of overcoming profound obstacles, Milarepa stands out as an ongoing example of undaunted discipline and courage.
